まもなくKUON 2016A/Wのリリースがはじまります。

それに先立ってホームページも16A/Wに更新しましたのでぜひご覧になってください！

おかげさまで今年の2月にスタートしたブランドにも関わらず、東京、大阪、香港、ニューヨークで開催していただいたポップアップストアもご好評いただき、来月にはニューヨークでの17SSの展示会も決定しました！

さて、皆さまがお待ちかねの16A/Wですが、インスタグラムではちょいちょい出してますでご存知ですかね？

2ndシーズンとなる16A/Wは襤褸だけでなく「刺し子」「裂き織り」「藍染」「泥染」といった分野、技法にまで展開しています。熟練の刺し子職人さんが2ヶ月かけて手縫いで仕上げる刺し子ジャケットなんてアートピースのような物ですね。

藍染は沖縄に伝わる「琉球藍染」を選びました。同じ藍染でも色の出方が明るくて素敵なんですよね。

1stシーズンは5万円のシャツの次が30万円のカーディガンという驚きのランナップでしたが、僕たちも考えて今シーズンはぐっと選びやすいラインナップになっています。もちろん軽自動車が買える程のアイテムもご用意してますのでご安心ください！

もちろんデザイナーがこだわり抜いたパターンメーキングはさらに冴えまくってます。

伝統技術や古布を多く使うからこそ「今」のファッションに落とし込むのにとても気を使います。まさに温故知新なコレクションになっていると思います。

リリースの第1弾はTシャツと帽子など今すぐに使えるアイテムになります。

We are happy to announce the release of our upcoming 2016 Autumn/Winter collection on our renewed website.

Since KUON's launch in February 2016, we have had pop-up stores in Tokyo, Osaka, Hong Kong, and New York, and will have our first official exhibition in New York, where we will be displaying our 2017 Spring/Summer collection!

Some of you may have already caught glimpses of our 2016 Autumn/Winter collection on our Instagram. This season, we will feature not only boro, but various Japanese traditional textile techniques such as sashiko (stitch mending), sakiori (tear-weaving), aizome (Japanese indigo) and dorozome (mud dyeing). A sashiko stitching master takes two months to complete the stitch-embroidery, and, due to the intricate nature of the process, it is almost like a piece of art. For our indigo pieces, we worked with masters of Ryukyu-ai, the indigo dyeing process rooted in Okinawa prefecture. Ryukyu-ai produces a brighter blue than regular indigo dye. The price range of our first season collection jumped from 50,000 to 300,000 yen, but in this season, we have items priced in between. For those who are curious, we have items as costly as a small car.

Most of all, our designer produces the sharpest patterns ever. Because we work with vintage fabrics and traditional techniques, we care most about keeping our pattern making contemporary and update-to-date to make our garments wearable. In Japanese, there is a saying known as "On Ko Chi Shin," which means to attempt to discover new things by studying the past, and through scrutinizing the old.

The first release of our Autumn/Winter collection will feature T-shirts and caps - items you can begin wearing immediately as the summer ends and fall begins.
